Acadia Parish Soundscape

For a long time, I have been interested in complimenting my photographs with additional layers of sensory experience. Recent work has led me to experiment with recording audio clips of ambient nature sounds, which I feel is the perfect way to immerse yourself into the place that is represented by an image.

The image below is a solargraph taken in Acadia Parish, Louisiana, with a pinhole camera loaded with a sheet of 5x7” Ilford Ilfospeed RC Deluxe photo paper. The camera recorded the image from August 12 to December 30, 2020. The lines that you see streaking across the frame are the path of the sun streaking across the sky, gradually lowering as the seasons shifted from Summer to Fall to Winter.

The audio clip was captured at the same location with a Zoom H5 recorder and is one of my first attempts at sound recording. Click the link to play the audio and experience this place while viewing the image and reflecting on the seasonal transitions it represents. Enjoy!
